Amano AiVideo Girl Ai Completed: August 2004 Why: At the time, I was really wanting to make something from an older anime that I enjoyed, and I had just purchased the complete Video girl Ai series. I Love her cute, yet devious character, and her design seems like something I would have fun making. How: The top consisted of an undertank top, the yellow kimono, and the top shawl, all sewn from scratch. The pink obi was made with 3 layers and interfacing to make it stiff. Handmade bows and ribbon were added to the shawl. Obi tie was blue cording and the beads were made from sculpty then fastened on the ends. The shoes were socks, covered in cotton and black bias tape. The wig was styled by myself to had the little curls in it. Comments: I loved wearing this costume! The people who recognized me were really happy that someone cosplayed as Ai. The day of AFO I got stuck outside and rained on, and soaked! I really wish I had time to remake this, because I love this costume. I have since sold this costume, and the person who purchased it was very happy. Awards won: not entered.
